                Chapter2 6 ½ Three-Digit Numbers

In previous class we learnt that last 2-digit
                    number is 99.

100 is the first three-digit number.

             Let us see that

                          99 + 1 = 90 + 9 + 1

                       Greatest                 =  9 tens + 9 ones + 1 one
                        2-digit = 9 tens + 1 ten
                       numbers
                                                = 10 tens

So 10 tens is equal to 100.

100 is written as hundred .

100 is the smallest three-digit number.

In a 3-digit number, the first place from right is one’s .

The second place from right is ten’s .
And the third place from right is hundred’s .

So as per place value : 786

                                 H T O

                          Hundred’s Ten’s One’s
                                  7 8 6

             ie. Seven hundred eighty six
