Comparison of Numbers



                To compare numbers in mathematics is very important concept.


                Symbol   >   means ‘is greater than’

                Symbol   <   means ‘is less than’


                Symbol   =   means ‘is equal to’




              All the numbers that are present on the left side of a number

              on a number line are smaller to that number, and numbers

              that  are  present  on  the  right  side  of  a  number  line  are
              greater than that number.

                                             than 6                     than 6
              For e.g., Numbers such as 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are present on left
              side of 6, are smaller to 6 and numbers such as 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,

              12, 13 are present on right side of 6, are greater to 6.


              ‘>’, Greater than           means more in number or more in value.

                    Greater or smaller is used to compare where there are only 2 objects.
