                                                  5-and 6-Digit Numbers

             If we add 1 to 9999, we get

                                                 9999 + 1 = 10000
             So 10000 is first and smallest 5-digit number.

             It is read as Ten thousand
             So,           Ten thousand one                           10001

                           Ten thousand ten                           10010
                           Ten thousand one hundred                   10100

                           Eleven thousand                            11000
                           Fifty thousand                             50000

                           Ninety-Nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine 99999

             All these are 5-digit numbers.
             99999 is the greatest 5-digit number.











                                                 Forming 5-Digit Numbers

             Numbers with 5-digits and more are divided into two groups. These groups are
             called periods in the place value system. They help in reading and writing large

             numbers.
             In a 5-digit number, we have two periods. THOUSANDS and ONES.

             ONES period has three places Hundreds, Tens and Ones.
             We start from the right hand side and group 3 digits. We leave a thin space or

             use a comma and then write the remaining digits.
