Place Value and Face Value
Face Value of a Digit in a Numeral
The face value of a digit in a Numeral is the value of the digit itself at whatever
place it may be :
Thus, in the numeral 24679
The face value of 6 is 6
The face value of 2 is 2 and so on
Take one more example,
The face value of 7 in 173259 is 7. So, face value of 2 in this number is 2.
Place Value of a Digit in a Numeral
Place value of a digit equals to (Face value of the digit) × (value of the place).
The place value of each digit in the number 85,325 is given below :

2 × tens = 20
3 × hundreds = 300
5 × thousands = 5,000
8 × ten thousands = 80,000
Take another example
The place value form of 1, 32, 579 is :
