Place Value
The value of a digit which depends upon the place where it occurs. It is
known as the place value.
The all 3’s in number 3333 have different place value as they all fall in
different place categories.

Face Value
The face value of a digit is a digit itself, respect of its position on place
value chart.
Let us have a number 8243.

8 2 4 3 3 3 Ones = 3
4 4 Tens = 40
2 2 Hundreds = 200
8 8 Thousands = 8000

Example 1 : 7 2 1 5 5 5 Ones = 5
Write the place value
1 1 Tens = 10
and face value of each
2 2 Hundreds = 200
digit in 7215.
7 7 Thousands = 7000
b. Th H T O Face Value Place Value
Example :
1 9 2 0 0 0 Ones = 0 Write the place value
2 2 Tens = 20 and face value of each
9 9 Hundreds = 900 digit in 1920.
1 1 Thousands = 1000
