Expanded Form

A number is break as the sum of the place value of the given number. If we

look at the numbers in above example, we can see that :
a. 7215 = 7000 + 200 + 10 + 5

as 7 is at thousand place= 7000

2 is at hundred place= 200
1 is at tens place= 10

5 is at ones place= 5

b. 1920 = 1000 + 900 + 20 + 0
c. 3205 = 3000 + 200 + 00 + 5

The short form of a number is given by the place value of each digit.

4000 + 300 + 70 + 50 = 4375
As 4000 means 4 at the thousands place

300 means 3 at the hundred place.

70 means 7 at the ten place.

5 means 5 at the one place.
So 8000 + 500 + 00 + 4 = 8504

3000 + 000 + 50 + 9 = 3059

6000 + 200 + 10 + 0 = 6210
7000 + 000 + 00 + 2 = 7002
