P. 17
Example 4 : 131235 + 223525 = 354760
133525 + 221235 = 354760
This property is also called commutative property.
2. Grouping Property
The way in which three numbers are grouped for addition does not change their
sum.
Example 5 : Add 2,48,015, 1,76,240 and 93,148
Also, 2,48,015 + 1,76,240 + 93,148 2,48,015 + 1,76,240 + 93,148
= (2,48,015 + 1,76,240) + 93,148 2,48015 + (1,76,240 + 93,148)
= 4,24,255 + 93, 148 2,48,015 + 2,69,388
= 5,17,403 = 5,17,403
This property is also called Associative Property.
3. Zero Property
The sum of a non-zero addend and zero is the non-zero addend.
For example : 5,43,572 + 0 = 5,43,572 and 0 + 5,43,572 = 5,43,572
This property is also called Identity Property.
