Then we will multiply 6285 by 8 and we get 50280 as 8 is tens number
and at last when we will multiply 6285 by 2 and we get 125700 as 2 is
hundreds number.
Therefore, after adding we get 1816365.
Example 12 :
Multiply 65743 by 3682
Solution :
6 5 7 4 3
× 3 6 8 2 ® (3000 + 600
(65743 × 2) ® 1 3 1 4 8 6 + 80 + 2)
(65743 × 80) ® 5 2 5 9 4 4 0
(65743 × 600) ® 3 9 4 4 5 8 0 0
(65743 ×3000) ® 1 9 7 2 2 9 0 0 0
2 4 2 0 6 5 7 2 6

Properties of Multiplication
1. Order Property
The order in which two numbers are multiplied does not change their product.
Example 13 : 68,751 × 3,125 = 21,48,46,875
3,125 × 68,751 = 21,48,46,875 (order changed)
This property is also called the Commutative Property.
2. Grouping Property
The way in which three numbers are grouped for multiplication does not change
their product.
Example 14 : 24,169 × 1,203 × 58 can be solved in two ways.
(i) (24,169 × 1,203) × 58 = 29057307 × 58 = 1,68,63,806
(ii) 24,169 × (1,203 × 58) = 24,169 × 69774 =
1,68,63,806 (same numbers grouped in a different way)
This property is also called Associative Property.
3. Multiplication Property of 1
The product of a factor (number) and 1 is the factor or number.
Example 15 : 56,84,227 × 1 = 56,84,227
This property is also called Identity Property.
4. Multiplication Property of Zero
The product of a number and zero is zero.
